This is my first User Tip, let's see how it goes and don't be surprized to see revisions.

Special thanks go to tt2 his both reviewing and making suggestions. What a guy !

User Tips can be very useful in both asking and answering question. If someone asks "How do I add a screenshot ?" by all means please give the person a link to this page.

  1. Have what you want to show on the screen.

  2. Press and release the home and power buttons at the same time, your iPad will flash. Be sure not to hold the buttons down, just press and release.

  3. Write the text of your question or reply.

  4. Move the cursor down two rows by tapping the return key

  5. Tap the camera icon in the editor bar.
  6. Tap choose file.

  7. Tap Photo library.

  8. Tap All photos or Screenshots.

  9. Tap the screenshot you want. The most recent is in the lower right

  10. Tap Insert image.

  11. Marvel at the results.
  12.
It's a lot of steps, just do them one at a time and let me know if you need help. I'll add a screenshot. 🙂

For extra credit you can annotate your screenshots. For arrows boxes, circles and a blur effect I use Skitch by Evernote.

I've known how to do this for years, but never knew what app or tool was used to mark up an image as there are quite a few in the iOS App Store that you can add text AND symbols to.

I see a lot of images posted here with red edit hand wtitten markings on them.

I thought it was going to be some sort of expensive image/jpeg/PDF editor that was going to be a pay and expensive app to purchase.

So, I never bothered asking any of the regular contributors what they were using to make these markups on an image.

Never heard of the Skitch app until now.

Now we know!

Downloading now.

Thanks for the tip!

You're welcome. When I started in ASC we couldn't add screenshots from an iPad. Then later a user mentioned Skitck in a discussion that wasn't about screenshots or had any screenshots. Just recommendeded it out of the blue. Lucky me. Unfortunately the persons name was lost to history.

It's the one to the left of the camera icon.

On my iPhone I see that the old bullet indent bug is still there, at least in the user tip comments. Works fine on my desktop though.

¡Hola CCC!

Please make any changes you want, add a translated version, and share it with our friends in the ES-ASC Forum. They probably can make greater use of the tip then in ASC.

Thank you. Bob.

Ta Da!

I am gonna "clean up" all my brouhaha over the #ed list - methinks we should all do the same to maintain some air of credibility 😉
