Stream'g purchased iTunes video content with older iPad models runn'g iOS 5, 6 or 7 with mobile wireless Seagate hard drives & older Seagate app
If you own or still own an original iPad 1 from 2010 or have an older iPad still running iOS 7 or earlier and also own or consider purchasing to own an external Seagate wireless hard drive specifically designed to use with iDevices and iOS, these iPads (especially, the original iPad 1) will be able to still stream iTunes purchased content from the external to the iPad, through older versions of Safari using either the newest Seagate app or the oldest compatible Seagate app for iOS 6 or iOS 5.
I have recently revived my original iPad and tested my Seagate wireless drive, that works with iOS and all my other iPads I used the last compatible Seagate drive app for iOS 5.1.1 and all 30 of my iTunes purchased movies still stream to my original iPad using the Safari browser version that is part of iOS 7,6 and 5.
The Seagate app for iOS 5.1.1 throws up a message about updating the app and firmware on the version of the Seagate app. Ignore it!
Do not do anything to update the app or firmware if a pop up message appears.
The app and the drive together will still work and still stream the movie content fine.
Another thing, my Bluetooth speakers all still work with the version of Bluetooth that is part of the original iPad and iOS 5.1.1
So, if anyone still has an original iPad and wishes they could still stream all their purchased iTunes movie content from an external storage source, the original iPad on iOS 5.1 or any iDevice running iOS 7 or earlier ONLY using a Seagate wireless mobile hard drive can still do this for you.
Also, if you have the 30 pin digital AV adapter, you can stream these movies from the external WiFi drive to the iPad through the AV adapter to a HDTV with an HDMI connection.
I have, now returned my original iPad back to active status!
