Photos for Mac can use two kinds of extensions:

Previously it has been difficult to search for applications providing extensions, but Photos 3.0 on High Sierra will take you to the App Store, when you view the installed extensions in Photos and click the "More ..." item at the bottom of the list.

For example, to see all Photos Project Extensions, click the "+" to the right of "Projects" in the sidebar and then click "More ..." at the bottom of the menu.

You can also enter directly these search strings into the search field of the Mac App Store:

  • To see all Photos Project Extensions enter appex:com.apple.photo-project
  • To see all Photos Editing Extensions enter appex:com.apple.photo-editing

The method above is working on macOS 10.12 Sierra and 10.13 High Sierra, but no longer on Mojave.

On Mojave you can see the list of applications, that will install extensions, if you open a photo in Photos in Edit mode and click the three dots to open the extension menu. The item "AppStore" at the bottom will take you to the applications at the App Store, that provide extensions. The description of an application will state, that the application offers an extension.

Here is a list of the extensions that I am using on macO 10.14.3 Mojave.

The "AppStore" link in the screenshot above will take you to this AppStore page (on macOS 10.14 Mojave):
