As you've learned as of September 30, 2018, Apple will no longer be providing print services but have outsourced them out to several companies which have provided apps that work from within Photos. I've downloaded all of the free appsand I've experimented with most of them to see what each offers. Of the 7 options only 4 offers bound books. This is what I've found in order of my preference:Mimeo: Books: 6 sizes/styles 54 themes (25 in Photos 4) - 1,2,3,4,5,6,12,20 & 30 pics/page 100s of page layouts - resize and relocate photos, change background color, add text boxes to any page.

Calendars: 14 themes (25 in Photos) 1-5 photos per page photos and text in date boxes.

Cards: 4 styles/styles 38 themes - flat and folded Is more powerful and versatile that what Apple offered.

Motif: Books: 4 sizes/styles 7 themes - 1 thru 9 photos/page - 100s of layouts - change bg color -

Shutterfly: Books: 10 sizes/styles 15 themes 3 layouts - 1-12 photos/page 100s of page layouts - some layouts with text. Need to sign to website in order to get all of the available themes and layouts. Gifts for Pet Lovers, Device Cases, Cards.

UPDATE:

If you have iPhoto 9.6.1 and still are able to create a PDF file for that book the 3rd party book provider which used to do the printing for Apple, Mimeo, will take PDF files created by iPhoto and Photos and print and bind books and calendars.

Also you can upload the PDF file to PrestoPhotos which can print and bind books and calendars from iPhoto or Photos pdf files.  They've been doing it for some time now.

Use the PrestoPhotos or Mimeo links above for direct access to the PDF file uploading and book/calendar ordering page for each site.
