Windows Outlook Express uses a proprietary format for messages (*.dbx). In order to import them into Mail, they have to be converted to the standard *.mbx format.
Firstly, create a new folder on your Windows PC (e.g.
C:\tempmail
), and copy all your mail folders to it (this means that your original files will be a back up). To do this, you may have to search for them using "*.dbx" (without the quotes).
Download DbxConv from here and place it in your temp mail folder.
Open up a command or DOS prompt window. From the Start menu, this would be Run and then type "cmd" (without quotes) and press enter, or select the DOS prompt from the programmes menu.
At the prompt, navigate to your temp folder (in this case type
C:\tempmail
, and press enter) then type the following:

DbxConv *.dbx

Press enter, and the utility will convert your message folders.
Now transfer the *.mbx files to your Mac. open up Mail, and from the File menu select Import Mailboxes. From the list, select 'Other' and then check the 'Mailboxes (mbox format)' from the next dialogue. select the location of your folders when prompted.
