If you are trying to hook your airport to a comcast cable modem, unplug the modems power source first, then wait a few minutes. Plug the cable modems ethernet cord into the airport then plug the airport power cord in, then plug the modem back in. wait a few minutes and your mac (if properly configured to work with apple airports) should now get a good connection with no drop outs.
