ITunes won't transfer purchased music to my iPod.
1)Your iPod software is out of date.
MacMuse's instructions are the clearest version available. Here they are:
* Quit iTunes & disconnect iPod from computer
* Download this installer
* Run the installer, which just puts the iPod utility on your computer, but not on your iPod
* Run the new utility (Start menu, All Programs, iPod entry...)
* Connect the iPod
* Click 'Update', and follow the rest of the on-screen instructions.
2) Or, your music needs to be authorized to play on your computer.
How to complete this action is covered in this article from the Apple Knowledge Base:

Usually, just playing the song on your PC is enough to trigger the authorization routine. This is especially useful if you notice that it is primarily recent downloads that are not transferring. Just play a few seconds of each one to remind your computer that it is authorized. Then transfer them to the iPod.
Playing new tracks upon download is a good idea anyhow. Any data transmitted across the Internet has the potential to become corrupt. Verifying its integrity upon receipt makes it much easier to follow up if something is audibly wrong with it.
