I'm getting an error message that says I need to check my internet connection and I can't seem to download music from the iTunes Music Store or CDDB.
There are many issues that can cause this type of error. The most common are:
* Firewalls. You need to make sure iTunes has permission to talk across it. The easiest way to see if ithis is the case is to disable it and try to download a song. If it works, create a post asking for help with the settings for your particular firewall. These can change when the firewall is updated.
* Popup Blockers. Disable them in order to access the store. Some browsers include one, as does the Google toolbar.
* Dialup Accelerators. These need to be disabled in order for the store to work. They won't speed up the download time for the file, so you won't be missing out on anything.
* ISP set proxy settings. The biggest one here is a European ISP by the name of Wanadoo (formerly FreeServe). This is from toonz:

Since you're using Dial-up, select the name of your dial-up connection and click on Settings. Uncheck the "Use a Proxy Server..." setting.
