If you are having trouble inputting characters from the Webdings or Wingdings fonts into Text Edit, here is a procedure that should work: In Character Palette, set View = Glyph and choose Webdings or Wingdings. Then set View=Unicode, Tab=Unicode Table, and scroll down to F021. Also set the font in TextEdit to Webdings or Wingdings. Double click on the item you want in Character Palette and it should appear in TextEdit.
