How can I have my SCSI CD-RW drive working?

If you have a recent (no more than 3 years) CD-RW unit you are likely to be able to use it following this procedure:

- First: upgrade your SCSI card driver
If you own - for instance - an Adaptec 2906 you'll found the latest drivers at this link:
www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/drivers/powerdomainava2906.html

- Second: install the SCSI Helper for MaxOSX from El-Gato.
www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/drivers/scsicdrwhelper.html

This will fix a problem that prevents CD-RW SCSI devices to be used under X.

Reboot your system.

Please note that the connected CD-RW SCSI device must be turned on BEFORE the computer is starting up (this is a good practice for every SCSI device).

On my system I am now able to burn CDs with both iTunes and Toast Titanium.

Hope this helps.
