Hello Everyone,
I have seen questions on the forums regarding the widget bug numerous times (only in Leopard). I am a victim of this, and have finally found a solution. Most often, the issue is triggered with activating Parental Controls. All or most of your dashboard widgets will not work...until now! Here is the fix:
About the Archive and Install Feature
Those are instructions on how to perform an Archive and Install. That is precisely the fix. But you must remember: *Preserve Accounts and Network Settings*
That will bring your computer to 10.5. You should update it to 10.5.2. (Although you don't have to) That is the most recent Leopard update. Go to your Apple menu and click on Software Update. The 10.5.2 will be in there. You should do this before messing with your widgets again.
Apart from that, your computer will be the same...but the widgets now work!

I wonder if this issue is related to Mac OS X 10.5: Dashboard widgets issues with Parental Controls and Fast User Switching enabled
Do you see the issue with 10.5.5 for example?
