Hello

Sometimes ago, responding in the discussion forum, I posted a message and the one who asked wrote : fine, this would be a FAQ document.

So I post it here.

CAUTION before leaving OS 8/9 for OS X.

If you own AW for a long time, you have it with an OS 8/9 only installer.

There are OSX aware installers, but you must pay to get one of them.

The free soluce is simple.

While you are under OS 9, make a CLEAN install of AW from your original CD.
Update directly to 624 (I wrote 624, not 627!!)
If you wish to "try" 627 it will be time to update when 624 will be installed under Panther. So you will be able to easily move back to 624 if needed.

Copy the folder "AppleWorks 6" and the extras folders: fonts, ... on a CD with the documents you want to keep safe when jumping in the Panther world.

When Panther will be installed, copy the "AppleWorks 6" folder into your "Applications" folder.

That's all. No need for special tools. No need for huge knowledge. Just do the things in the correct order: "backup" before erasing!
