For those of you having difficulty getting OS X to recognize your media card reader, try these possible solutions:
1. Figure out if it's your Mac, or if it's the card reader causing the problem. Check your Apple System Profiler (under "About this Mac") to see if the card reader shows up. If it does, then your Mac is recognizing the card. If it doesn't, then there might be a problem with the card reader or with the media card. Try both on a different Mac, or on a PC.
2. Depending on the card reader, some of them let you insert the card upside down. Make sure your card is inserted correctly. Try it the other way, just in case.
2. If you're using the keyboard USB port, try to use the main USB port, or a powered USB hub instead. Sometimes the card reader needs more power than the keyboard port can supply.
3. Try rebooting into OS 9 (not classic mode), and see if your card reader mounts onto the desktop. If it does, then reboot back into OS X, and now the card reader should mount on the OS X desktop.
