On the post you want to reference (Post a link to), use Control + Click on Reply, to Copy Link Location.
The copied URL will appear as "http://discussions.apple.com/post!reply.jspa?messageID=xxxxxxx"
Without the quotes.
Change post!reply
to: message.
At the end of the numbers, represented by the Xs, add a # (Pound Sign), and repeat the number, like this:
"http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=xxxxxxx#xxxxxxx"
Again, without the quotes.
To post the URL as a link, use this format:
<a href="Insert the edited URL here">Type Title Here</a>
Here the quotes are necessary.
So it would look like this:
<a href="http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=xxxxxxx#xxxxxxx">Titl e of Link</a>
Again, here the quotes are necessary.
For the link title, you could use the name of the poster, who's message you want to refer to.
If the post you want to reference has been replied to, in the reply locate the (small blue arrow):
(It's Directly Below This ->) Re: Topic/Reply Title
(This One ->)
in response to: Poster's Alias>This must be done from the reply to the exact post you want to create a link to.
Click on that arrow and the page will refresh to show the desired entry at the top of the page. If the post is in that location, the correct URL to use in the formatted link, will appear in the browser address bar, ready to Copy & Paste into this format:
<a href="Paste URL Here">Enter A Title Here</a>
