Verify that the antenna wire is properly attached to the AirPort Extreme Card.
Also verify that the external antenna is plugged into the back of the G5. The PowerMac G5 is the only Mac with an external AirPort antenna. You can see the external antenna in the article Power Mac G5: How to Identify External AirPort and Bluetooth Antennas.
