The wireless options for an iMac G3 (CRT) are dependent on which iMac G3 you have.
Most of the iMac G3s have an internal wireless card slot and can use the original AirPort card (see note 1 below). This slot is only for the original AirPort card and can not be used with any other card (including the AirPort Extreme card).
The first step is to identify the exact iMac G3 using KB #58669, iMac: How To Differentiate Between Models (CRT). Then, use the table below to understand the available options.
<table border=3 align=center><tr><th>iMac description</th><th>Wireless options</th></tr><tr><td>233 MHz to 333 MHz</td><td>
- Ethernet wireless adapter
- USB wireless adapter (see note 2 below)

NOTES:
- The AirPort card adapter is also required.
- Judging from the posts in the networking and AirPort discussion areas, many, many people find USB wireless adapters problematic. Most people who struggle with these devices eventually give up. Some people seem to have the correct combination of circumstances and get it working.
