When I try to install iTunes, it freezes at the step "installing QuickTime". Can I just run it without QuickTime?

QuickTime is the playback engine for iTunes. You need it to play music. The following usually works if you get that message:

* Download the standalone QuickTime Player
* Uninstall the incomplete iTunes
* Install QuickTime
* Reinstall iTunes

As QuickTime is already present on your computer, iTunes will skip over installing it and should complete successfully.
