For AirPort Admin Utility in OS 9, after you open your AirPort Base Station, click on "Base Station" in the menu bar and select"Equivalent Network Password". If it is 10 characters (not 13) your AirPort uses 40 bit encryption (also called 64 bit). If it shows 26 characters your AirPort is using 128 bit WEP.

Note that you can actually use this password to log onto your Base Station if you add a "$" in front of the 10 or 26 character code. This is also the password you would give to a PC user to let them onto your AirPort network, again adding the "$" in front.

You need to have turned on WEP encryption by checking the box that says "Enable encryption (using WEP)" and have clicked on the "Update" to reset your AirPort Base Station to use WEP. The box will already be checked if you did this before, as the AirPort Admin Utility shows the actual settings in your Base Station when it opens.
