Strange behavior after sleep/logout freeze

This is a problem I have experienced with an iBook and Powerbook running OS 10.2.3
If you are experiencing strange trackpad and system behavior after sleep, for example:
1. Trackpad/cursor seems "rubbery" and cursor moves even when your finger is not moving. This is particularly apparent when navigating through contextual menues.
2. Going to system preferences and choosing Mouse completely freezes the computer.
3. Logging out, restarting, or shutting down completely freezes the computer .
Solution:
Make sure that the Energy Saver preferences are set to use the highest processor speed when you are connected to power adapter and while you are running on battery power.
If you enable the computer to use a lower processor speed while not connected to a power adapter, put the computer to sleep, plug in the power adapter while it is sleeping and then unplug it before you wake the computer, you will have the problems listed above.
The simplest solution is to set the processor to cycle at the highest setting while using the power adapter and battery power.
