How to use the Add Text Feature When Posting Large Amounts of Text, i.e. an Etrecheck Report

Download and run Etrecheck


Copy and paste the results into your reply. Etrecheck is a diagnostic tool that was developed by one of the most respected users here in the ASC and recommended by Apple Support  to provide a snapshot of the system and help identify the more obvious culprits that can adversely affect a Mac's performance.


Copy the report



and use the Additional Text button to paste the report in your reply.



This is what you get:



NOTE: If you get the following in the Time Machine section -


Backup:

Time Machine information is limited without Full Disk Access

Destinations:


- check Etrecheck's Privacy settings and make sure the checkbox for full disk access is checked and run again:

I just went in to add a screenshot of the Notes control to my “Using EtreCheck” user tips, but this is way better. I’m just linking to this tip instead. Very nice!

This is a test of the Add Text feature.



Earlier the Add Text feature would format the text as shown in this screenshot:



I've added a report from my iMac for comparison the the older format.


What I'm getting is a download of a log file that has to be opened in Console.
