Rich Text Editor (RTE)
We’d like to provide you with a break down of each of the different components of the Rich Text Editor (RTE). The RTE supports two slightly different sets of formatting features, for Discussions and User Tip creation.
When you’re creating or participating in a discussion, the following content formats are enabled in the content editor.
Bold
To access bold text option, press on “Aa” button.
Then press on “B” button.
Once selected, bold text button (“B”) will be highlighted.
You can either pre-select text that you would like to make bold and then press “Bold” button or you can press button first and then enter a text in bold.
When on your Mac you can also use “Cmd+B” shortcut to activate or deactivate bold text formatting.
To go back to the main editor toolbar view, press on close (“X”) button on the right.
Italic
When on your Mac you can also use “Cmd+I” shortcut to activate or deactivate italic text formatting.
Underline
“Cmd+U” shortcut will activate or deactivate underline text formatting on your Mac.
Quote
When you are replying to someone else’s post created in a new content editor, pressing on a quote button for the first time will quote an entire post are replying too.
Pressing “enter” on an empty line of the quote format will remove an empty line and exit from the quote format.
Note: quote format was designed to be used in chatty discussions to quote your interlocutors. Because of that, if you’d like to quote an image or let’s say a log insertion, it will be downgraded to a plain text, similar to how Mail app does it on your Mac or iOS device when you reply to a message with an attachment.
If you would like to quote an article, there is no need in quotation format, just paste the content in.
