How I dealt with the Apple TV Remote

I have several older and newer Apple TV's and their respective remotes.

The early version had arrows for right, left, up, down, etc. which were easy to operate along with the other buttons that have icons or descriptions of the buttons.

The newer version has a track pad (or thumb pad) which many people, including myself, was hard to figure out which end of the remote was which without having to turn on the light while watching a movie.

Here is what I did and hopefully it may help others.

  1. I purchased an Apple TV Remote case.

There are many cases but here is one brand that I chose. AKWOX

With this case I could at least determine which end of the remote was up.

My Wife was still having problems figuring out where the trackpad began or ended so:

2. I added a 1/16" white pin stripe where I believe the trackpad ended.

After doing that everything seemed to work for us and made it easy.

To take it a step further because I have several Apple TV's in different rooms, I added different color Remote Cases for each Apple TV.

Blue = Bedroom

Lime Green = Living Room

Orange = Office

Works for us and is now easy to view and operate. If it works for you, let us know or tell us if you have something different you would like to share.
