Apple Slowdown tentative settlement details
On March 2, 2020 various news media published that Apple had agreed to a class action settlement regarding slowdowns of some iPhone devices whose batteries were failing. Note that this is still tentative, and could change, but as of March 2, 2020 this is what we know (based on published news):
- This is a PROPOSED settlement of a class action suit, based on a claim that Apple deliberately slowed down some phones, which Apple denies, but is willing to settle to avoid protracted litigation.
- Apple will set aside $310 Million to $500 Million in the PROPOSED settlement.
- Under the PROPOSED settlement the original plaintiffs will get $3,500 each.
- Under the PROPOSED settlement their lawyers will get $93 million.
- The settlement has not been approved by the judge in the case, and until the judge approves it (or requires it to be modified) no one is getting anything.
- It applies only to owners of the 6, 6S, 7 (and their Plus versions) and the SE who had installed specific versions of iOS.
- Eligibility is users who reside in the US and purchased their phones in the US, and who have experienced slowdowns due to battery degradation.
- Yasal anlaşmanın bir bölümünü alabilmek için ABD'de ikamet etmeli ve ABD'de bir telefon satın almalısınız.
- The $25 is an estimate, it could be more or less depending on how many claims are filed.
- Once the settlement (or its modified version) is approved by the court a procedure will be published for filing claims.
