I only have 128GB of storage, can I reliably upgrade to Monterey?
Mac OS 12.0 Monterey may be beyond the capabilities of some cheaper recent Mac models.
Remarkably in order to gain speed at a low price, some Mac models only have 128 GB of built-in storage.
Go to Apple menu -> About This Mac -> Storage to verify how much storage total you have.
1 TB is greater than 128 GB by close to 8 fold.
If your total empty space on your drive is less than 45 GB, chances are it doesn't have enough space to install either Big Sur or Monterey. Before upgrading always backup your data, and pick places off your Mac to store information you don't use frequently. Keep in mind once off your Mac, it isn't backed up until it is on two distinct physical storage mediums whether present or remote in the cloud.
