In my days volunteering here in the Apple Support Community I helped a lot of people with questions about having a locked or disabled Apple ID or a disabled account in the app store and iTunes. This seems to be a common problem, so In this user tip I will have a quick look at the common causes, and common solutions to this problem

Apple locks accounts for several reasons. In most cases, there are concerns about your account safety and security. You will get one of the following messages:

“This Apple ID is disabled for security reasons”

“You can’t sign in because your account was disabled for security reasons”

“This Apple ID has been locked for security reasons”

While this all sounds very serious, a simple Apple ID password reset most of the time solves this issue. Make sure to change your password once In a while and turn 2 factor authentication on if you haven’t done that already to make and keep your Apple ID as safe as possible.

If your Apple ID is disabled in the App Store and iTunes

If you are getting this message when trying to download something in the App Store on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, it means that there is something going on with your account what cannot be fixed at your end. There can be various reasons why you are getting this message, but we at Apple Support Community cannot help you with this particular issue. You need to contact Apple Support for help at a time they’re open and ask assistance for the enabling of your account.
