Raw Support Versions on iOS and MacOS
The built-in RAW Support in Photos for Mac and iOS is camera specific and depending on the system version. Since OS X El Capitan the support for new cameras is coming as part of a system update and no longer as separate digital RAW compatibility updates. Getting RAW support for a new camera may require a system upgrade and require a newer Mac model as well, if the current Mac does no longer qualify for system upgrades.
