Brief Description:

Have you ever wanted to create a PDF version of the Terminal Commands?

Every year, Apple releases a new version of macOS and in those updates, many commands are added while others go away.

I typically perform this after every major annual software release to keep up with the latest commands available.

In this user tip, we'll learn how to create a PDF of the Terminal commands on your Mac for the bash shell.

If you are using any other shell, this user tip may not work as intended.

Bonus Tip:

Your shell files and folders are hidden by default.

To find your shell, open a Finder window, click your username in the sidebar, then press Command + Shift + Period (.) to unhide/hide those hidden files.

Let's Begin:

  1. On your Mac, open Terminal.
  2. Press Command + K to clear the screen.
  3. Press and Hold the ESC key until a prompt appears.
  4. Press "Y" on your keyboard.
  5. Since this list is too long for the display, simply hold down the "Y" key until the list is finished.
  6. Press ESC + delete to remove any excess "Y"'s that appeared.
  7. Press Command + P to create the PDF.
  8. Click PDF.
  9. From the dropdown menu that appears, click Save As PDF.
  10. Type "Terminal Commands", then press return.
  11. Press Command + K to clear the screen.
  12. Press Command + Q to quit the Terminal.
