Here on the community we see daily questions about difficulties to access the Apple ID settings. The Apple ID Settings under settings>your name are greyed out. What to do in that case?

ScreenTime and parental controls

Most of the times this is caused by screen time and parental controls. Under ScreenTime , you can set up content and privacy restrictions. These include a restriction to the account changes. So if under these settings allow account settings is set to not allow, the settings under settings>your name will be greyed out and unable to access

  1. Go to Settings and tap Screen Time.
  2. Tap Content & Privacy Restrictions. If asked, enter your passcode.
  3. Under Allow Changes, select the features or settings that you want to allow changes to and choose Allow or Don't Allow.

If you want to access your account settings you must first go to the settings above and set allow account changes to allow.

Most of the times your Apple ID settings are not greyed out anymore and you can access the settings and log out if you want to. Make sure that it can take a few seconds for the changes to become into effect

If your iPhone is managed by a company or an educational institute:

Then it could be the case that your account settings are locked by your system administrator. If you’ve checked screen time restrictions and you still cannot enter your account settings or sign out, contact your system administrator for further support.
