keyword search stopped working in Photos - Apple Community

If the search for keywords is no longer working in Photos for Mac and after excluding all the usual suspects (location of the Photos Library, damaged or incompatible items in the library, incomplete Spotlight index) and giving Photos sufficient time to scan the library, try jeffnles1 solution - but be very careful not to modify anything els in the Photos Library. And make a backup copy of your library, so can restore it, if something should go wrong.

Doing this will result in a repair of the library, and if you are using Photos in a new upload to iCloud Photos. This fix should not be taken lightheartedly - it is expensive.

To open the Photos Library package select it in the Finder, right-click or Ctrl-click it and use the command "Show Package Contents":

UPDATE - I opened the "container" for the photos library. There is a folder inside that container called Database with a sub folder called "Search". After ensuring I had a backup of my photos library AND a copy of the contents of this database folder in the library, I deleted all the files and the folder called "search".

I then launched the photos app and it rebuilt the database. Viola, keyword search is working now.

It must have been some file didn't close properly or open properly with the last update.

Thanks all who made suggestions, your discussions triggered the idea that it may be some file corrupted. All is fine in the Appleverse for now.
