  • macOS has built-in file sharing, that if configured, would allow other devices on your local network to access designated folders.
  • Setting up File sharing is done within system settings. Refer to "Step 1" in both the Process

Two ways to access the folders from the Files App. Refer to the Process 1 and 2 given below.

Open the Files App. Tap the Three Dots on the Top RH side, Tap Connect to Server. Enter a local hostname (Bonjour) or a network address, then tap Connect. Tip: After you connect to a computer or file server, it appears in the Recent Servers list on the Connect to Server screen. To connect to a recent server, tap its name.

The local hostname, or local network name, is displayed at the bottom of the Sharing settings window. It identifies your Mac to Bonjour-compatible services. The local hostname is your computer's name with .local added, and any spaces are replaced with hyphens.

The Process:

  1. Process 1: Use IP Address of the Mac
    1. Step 1: Get the IP address from Mac
    2. Step 2: Use iPhone Files App to access those folders
  2. Process 2: Use the Local Host name of the Mac.
    1. Step 1: Get the Local Host Name from Mac
    2. Step 2: Use iPhone Files App to access those folders

Use the Mac’s user name and password associated with your administrator account. This is the same set of credentials you typically use to log in to your Mac or make changes to system settings. If you’re unsure of the username, you can check it by going to System Settings > Users & Groups. Make sure you enter the password correctly, keeping in mind that it’s case-sensitive.

You may eject the shared IP address or Local Host name in the Files app any time as given below
