Add a Photo to a PDF

Brief Description:

Preview is a Portable Document Format (PDF) and photo editor for the Mac that allows simple annotations. If you are creative, you can create amazing things.

However; the ability to simply copy and paste an image directly into a PDF does not seem to work. It appears that the Preview App sandboxes those two formats from each other.

This user tip solves that issue by transforming an image into an object that can be inserted into an existing PDF.

Instructions:

1. Open an existing PDF in the Preview App on your Mac
2. Open an existing photo in the Preview App on your Mac
3. Click on the photo, then press Command + A to select it
4. Press Command + C to copy it to the clipboard
5. Press Command + V to paste it (you should see a duplicate photo appear on top of the original photo)
6. Click the new photo to select it, then press Command + X to cut this object out
7. Click the exact page in the PDF you want to insert, then press Command + V to paste it in
8. Resize and move this object to the desired location in the PDF document
9. Press Command + S to save the changes to your PDF
