A User Tip Authored by TheLittles of the Apple Support Community:

"Text Substitution" and Messages

Being that adding a custom profile footer is not a direct feature of iMessage (as of this post), create and use a Text Replacement. As you go about typing your info at the end, you can use Text Replacement to show what is needed. Divide items with hyphens to distinguish the featured contents. Creating this, you'll have a quick way to create a profile of yourself. Things to include in your profile would be:

  1. Name
  2. Job Title
  3. Company Title
  4. Address
  5. Phone Number
  6. eMail Address

As an Example:

Here is how to create a footer containing your eMail Address:

I. Create the Text Replacement:

(See Screenshot 1).

  1. To to: Settings
  2. Tap: General
  3. Tap: Keyboard
  4. Tap: Text Replacement
  5. Tap: + button (located at top-right corner of screen)
  6. Type: [your email address] in Phrase
  7. Press: return key
  8. Type: a shortcut (i.e. eml. which would be short for "eMail". Include the period when typing this, to avoid issues)
  9. Tap: the highlighted recommendation (above the keyboard).
  10. Tap: Save (located at top right corner of screen)

II. Compile the Message with the Shortcut:

(See Screenshot 2).

  1. Type: your main message
  2. Tap: return key
  3. Type: eml.
  4. Tap: the recommendation (located atop the keyboard)
  5. Press: send key (up arrow on bottom-left corner):

III. What is Shown:

(See Screenshot 3).

The email address from the Text Replacement you created.
