Use eMail Headers to Report an iCloud.com eMail Imposter to Apple Support:
A User Tip Authored by TheLittles of the Apple Support Community:
Use eMail Headers to Report an iCloud.com eMail Imposter to Apple Support:
Received a scam eMail message from a sender of the icloud.com domain? If so, you can use screenshots to report in-depth contents for investigatory purposes. Attach Screenshots of Header Information.
Capture: a portion of the screen, and forward these screenshots to to reportphishing@apple.com
In-Depth:
- Hold Down: command + shift + 4
- Capture: the info with a screenshot
- Include a brief description of what this eMail is all about: Screenshots are attached containing icloud.com eMail imposter's scam eMail info.
- Title the eMail: Scam email
- Send the screenshots to both:
- reportphishing@apple.com
- abuse@icloud.com
The eMail's content will be reported
How to Reveal the eMail Headers in the macOS Mail App:
Providing more than just one screenshot works just fine. Why more than one? Because unhiding the headers typically makes the eMail larger than the screen size will permit. In all, headers allow Apple Support to see the eMails information continuing its journey from the scammer(the sender) and on you(the recipient). Headers contain important and vital information such as server information and IP Addresses, just to name a couple. As for using other sites and apps for submittal, contact the app developer or your eMail provider.
Perform the Following:
- Open: the Mail app
- Open: the eMail message
- Click: View menu
- Hover Over: Messages >
- Select: All Headers
