IGNORE THIS TIP. WITH THE NEW ASC SOFTWARE HANDLES EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS IN A TOTALY DIFFERENT WAY

See Stopping Emails from ASC - The short version, before proceding with this full procedure. If that works fine. If not come back here and try this.

Note: The Email Notification Preferences have no effect on any Email you are currently receiving, they only affect what will happen. To stop current Emails you need to delete them from Email Notifications.

The confusion lies in the almost identical naming of those two seperate settings. Follow these instructions and the emails will stop.

Stopping email from the site is a three step process. Before you dismiss this out of hand give it a try.

If you still get emails post and a host can be alerted

First go to your profile page. To do this select Your Stuff->Profile at the top of the page.

User uploaded file

Select the Notifications tab:

User uploaded file

Clear out any that appear.

  1. Return to your profile page.
  2. In the Actions box select Edit Preferences

User uploaded file

These are the Preferences. These will affect what notifications you will receive, not what notifications you are receiving.

Select the Email Notifications Preferences tab

User uploaded file

Set the values to suit your needs.

Ok here are the juicy bits, the actual Notifications you are receiving now.

Go back to your profile.

In the Actions box select Manage Email Notifications

User uploaded file

Here is where you will see the Notifications currently being sent to you.

You can use the Filter to search for and select specific notifications.

If you are receiving many notifications per day you most likely have selected to receive notifications from a community. That means you are getting notified anytime anything is posted to that community. Some communities in ASC can generate 100's of posts per day.

To delete the notifications you do not want to receive, select the checkbox after the notification and then press Remove Selected Notifications.

That should do it
