How to Post a screenshot to the Apple Discussion Forums

Often, in the course of presenting a problem (or solution), a screenshot of relavent details greatly improves the liklihood of success. This tip focuses on how to take and post a screenshot from Mac OS X.



There are two parts to this task:

1) Take a screenshot

2) Post the screen shot to this forum



For (1)... "Take a screenshot":

- type the key combintion <command> + <shift> + 4

- the cursor will change to a crosshair

- click, and hold, the top-left corner, then drag to the bottom-right corner, release the mouse button

- the screenshot will be stored on the desktop with a name similar to "Screen Shot 2014-02-01 at 9.13.04 AM.png" (where the time and date ar different)



For (2)... "Post the screenshot":

- in the Apple Discussion forum editor click the camera icon in the toolbar:

User uploaded file

- then navigate to, and select, the particular screenshot you want to post by:

User uploaded file

a) click the "Choose File" button, then use the standard file selection dialog

b) click the "Insert Image" button



NOTE: Remove personal, or sensitive, information from your screenshots. If necessary, make up names, phone numbers, addresses to act as placeholders.
