Exchange Repair programs affecting MacBook Pros

When Apple observes an after warranty issue with its computers, it issues Exchange/Repair Programs on this page:

http://www.apple.com/support/exchange_repair/

Occasionally it has also issued them on its support knowledgebase:

MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010): Intermittent black screen or loss of video

Older issues have included:

MacBook Pro: Distorted video or no video issues

About Apple's Power Adapter Replacement Program -- U.S. only

Some issues may be resolved by running the hardware test:

Using Apple Hardware Test

If it does not appear that the issue is related to the above repair programs, and there is no issue with the hardware test, RAM may be at issue if hardware problems are obvious.    It is very important when you install non-Apple bought RAM it is designed for the age of the Mac model, and not specific to any timing.

Mid/Late 2007 MacBook Pros may take 667 MHz PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM but not all 667 MHz PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM will work with them.  Buy RAM from vendors

known to sell by the age of the model which include http://www.datamem.com/ http://www.crucial.com/ and http://www.macsales.com/ , and search for the model age your Mac has, after using this tip to identify it:

If you notice an apparently reproducible issue on many Macs of the same model that has not been addressed, check on the forum in question, and see if you may be missing a repair program, and if not, post to http://www.apple.com/feedback/ your observations.
