Previous versions of Apple’s iOS, namely, iOS 7 and iOS 8, could boast of one useful feature called Personal Hotspot right from the box. With the release of iOS 9 earlier this year, such a feature was somehow hidden in the Settings app and this made a number of users think that Apple no longer supports Personal Hotspot. This is not true and in this short post I’ll try to explain how to reenable the feature on your iPhone running iOS 9 or higher.

Before digging deep into the settings (well, actually, not that deep), I think you should take a look at the description of the Personal Hotspot feature at link:

Now that you know what are we talking about, let’s start setting everything up.

First of all, open the Settings app and tap on Cellular.

In the Cellular section, select Cellular Data Network and on the next page, scroll to the very bottom till you see Personal Hotspot settings (APN, USername, Password).

Type in random APN, Username and Password, close the Settings app and reopen it. Now, under the Cellular tab you should see the Personal Hotspot section.

[IMPORTANT] SOME CARRIERS HAVE THEIR OWN SETTINGS FOR PERSONAL HOTSPOTS, SO IF YOU HAVE ANY DIFFICULTIES SETTING UP YOUR HOTSPOT USING RANDOM APN, USERNAME AND PASSWORD, CONTACT YOUR CARRIER AND ASK FOR THE REQUIRED CREDENTIALS.

To start using Personal Hotspot, tap the required menu, and move the toggle to the right. You will be asked whether you want to use the hotspot over USB only, or via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth as well. Choose the option you prefer (in my case, it’s the first one).

That’s it, now you can use your iPhone to share the Internet connection between devices you own. Feel free to ask any questions in the comments section down below.
