As you know, Apple’s streaming music service called Apple Music has been recently launched for Android users. If you plan to try out the new app, which is currently available on Google Play Store, you can do this right now. Below you will find the instructions on how to get things ready for Apple Music.

First of all, you need to make sure you have an Apple ID and a compatible Android device. Apple Music for Android (version 0.9.1) is compatible with smartphones and tablets running Android 4.3 or higher, so even if you have an older device, you will still be able to enjoy your favourite tracks.

To download the Apple Music app, you need to go the Google Play Store either from your Android device, or from Mac or PC and search for Apple Music. I’ve used Chrome on my iMac and everything worked perfectly.

Once you agree to the permission policy and hit the ‘Install’ button, the installation process will begin.

After the download is finished, you will see the app icon on your device. Tap on it to launch the app.

Once the app is open, you will be prompted to start a free 3-month trial. In order to use the service, you will need to do that. Choose a plan and then enter or create your Apple ID.

[IMPORTANT] IF YOU WANT, YOU CAN UNSUBSCRIBE FROM APPLE MUSIC ANYTIME. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE AT LINK.

After you’re ready with the sing-in process, the app will ask you to select the genres of music and artists you prefer. This procedure is required for Apple Music to create personalized playlists for you.

[IMPORTANT] IF YOU HAVE ALREADY SUBSCRIBED TO APPLE MUSIC, YOU WON’T HAVE TO ENTER THE AFOREMENTIONED DETAILS - YOU WILL GET EVERYTHING SET UP AND SYNCED AUTOMATICALLY INCLUDING YOUR MUSIC LIBRARY AND PLAYLISTS.

The setup process is over and now you can see the ‘For You’ section.

To navigate to other sections, you should use Android’s Hamburger side menu at the top left-hand corner of the screen. These sections include:

  • New (new music releases)
  • Radio (Beats 1 and other stations)
  • Connect (Apple’s music social network for artists and their fans)
  • Playlists (well, the playlists you’ve created)
  • My Music (the list of your music)
  • Settings (for managing account, subscription etc.)

To play a song, you need to simply tap on it. This will open a minimalistic Apple-style player.
