Product Specialities

Specialties take you on a journey of discovery about a product or technology. Complete activities and challenges to gain levels in a specialty. As you progress, your status displays on your profile, and other community members recognize your expertise.

You can specialize in these products and technologies:

You complete activities for your speciality within communities that relate to that specialty. For example, the iCloud specialty includes the communities "iCloud on my iOS device”, “iCloud on my Mac”, “iCloud on my PC”, “icloud.com".

Earn a specialty

When you complete any Level 1 activity for a specialty, the specialty icon displays on your profile and next to your name and level on discussion pages. When you complete all three Level 1 activities, a blue bar displays under the specialty icon. There are ten specialty levels you can reach.

Specialty levels are different from community levels and perks, where you earn points. Specialty levels are based only on activities you complete.

Any activity counts, even if it happens before you reach the appropriate level. For example, if you haven’t earned specialty Level 1 yet, but the community marks your answer as Helpful, you get credit for that activity when you’re ready to advance to Level 3.

Speciality Level 1

  • 1x Bookmark a discussion.
  • 1x Create a new discussion on something you’d like to know about
  • 1x Mark another member’s discussion as “I have this question too”

Speciality Level 2

  • 1x Create a discussion.
  • 1x Insert an image into your discussion.
  • 1x Mark another member’s reply as “This solved my question”.
  • 1x Follow a discussion.
  • 1x Reply to a comment on your discussion.

Speciality Level 3

  • 1x Your discussion is marked as “I have this question too”.
  • 2x Reply to another member’s discussion.
  • 1x Another member replies to your discussion.
  • 1x Your reply is marked as Helpful.

Speciality Level 4

  • 3x Reply to another member’s discussion.
  • 1x Your discussion is marked as “I have this question too”.
  • 2x Bookmark a discussion.
  • 1x Follow a community area.
  • 1x Your answer is marked as Solved for another member’s question.

Speciality Level 5

  • 5x Reply to another member’s discussion.
  • 3x Add an image to a discussion.
  • 2x Follow a discussion.
  • 4x Your reply is marked as Helpful.

Speciality Level 6

  • 2x Your answer is marked as Solved for another member’s question.
  • 5x Your reply is marked as Helpful.

Speciality Level 7

  • 1x Report a post.
  • 1x Another member replies to your discussion.
  • 5x Your reply is marked as Helpful.
  • 2x Your answer is marked as Solved for another member’s question.

Speciality Level 8

  • 10x Reply to another member’s discussion.
  • 4x Report a post.
  • 5x Your reply is marked as Helpful.

Speciality Level 9

  • 1x Your User Tip is liked.
  • 5x Your reply is marked as Helpful.
  • 5x Your answer is marked as Solved for another member’s question.
  • 5x Report a post.

Speciality Level 10

  • 5x Your reply is marked as Helpful.
  • 10x Your answer is marked as Solved for another member’s question.
  • 5x Report a post.
