Front Row - how to move this application from Snow Leopard to Lion:

If (and only if) you still have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 installed, for example if you have dual boot, and you want to install Front Row in Lion 10.7.5, you need to move some files from the Snow Leopard Library to the Lion Library.

For unknown reasons, Apple decided to make the libraries in Lion invisible, so you will have to make them visible before you can do this. There are two ways of doing this:

1. Press Option as open the Go menu in the Finder: choose Library (which doesn’t appear in the menu until you press Option). This may not be permanent.

2. To make the Libraries in Lion permanently visible: Open Terminal (via Utilities or Terminal) then copy and paste the following command, carefully noting the spacings:

chflags nohidden ~/Library/

To reverse this, paste this command:

chflags hidden ~/Library

Either command takes effect immediately, there is no need to log out or restart.

You are now ready to copy Front Row to Lion: as stated, this will require access to a Mac OS X 10.6 installation. The following Front Row files from OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard must be moved into the exact same locations in Mac OS X 10.7 Lion:

/System/Library/CoreServices/Front Row.app

/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/BackRow.framework

/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/iPhotoAccess.framework

/System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.RemoteUI.plist

/Applications/Front Row.app

This will also work for Mavericks, but you will have to place an alias of the Front Row application located in System/Library/Core Services/Front Row.app in your applications folder.

It will probably not work in later versions of OS X.
