I have quicktime files with audio - they are mpeg quicktimes. The video plays/imports, but not the audio. The clip only has video in the bin - no audio. Any help? cheers.

Need more info. What do you mean by "mpeg quicktimes"? What is the file format and file extension? What are the specific video and audio codecs and formats in the files? Use Quicktime player, command-I to get info. Maybe also open in MPEG Streamclip and get Stream Info.

You need to convert that for use inside FCP. Use MPEG Streamclip and do "Export to Quicktime." Settings for frame size, frame rate and compression should match your FC sequence settings.

I'm importing files from itunes for a home movie. Exported from itunes as AIFF works most times. But a few files "Protected AAC audio" files dont convert. I tried your suggested MPEG Streamline... could open the audio file in there and export it to .aiff, but in FCP it doesnt play. Any suggestions? THANKS!

You have to buy the iTunes Plus upgrade to your AAC protected songs in iTunes, and then convert them to Aiff. They're not playing because they are protected.
