Ive also noticed that since I turned OFF sudden motion sensor that the number of hangs is less... but its still there.

it's not correct that I'm experience no problem as lehrerfreund mentioned, I'm only experiencsing other issues -- focussed on Mail.app, see: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2133249&tstart=0

Please c'mon, Apple, get your hands on these issues -- they should be solved until 10/22, when W7 comes out ...

Ok, so maybe my issue isn't SL directly. Cos I downgraded back to 10.5.8 last night and the issue is still present, had 2 kernel panics in the last 15 minutes. Here's the log that was sent to apple on reboot:

    Good news.. I think..

Well, I upgraded the HP drivers and iTunes (9.0.1) from Software Update (downloaded the HP drivers from Apple's site myself) and so far no crashes or hangs. Let's see if I can make it another day without any issues..

To solve the mystery of Safari crashing in Snow Leopard, press ⌘-, (command+comma) and from the Security tab, disable plug-ins.

I've been using firefox for the last 2 days or so.. and no freezes!! And I did disable plugins in safari and also no freezes.. although I haven't tested it too much to be sure... I'm pretty sure it's the flash plugin when working on safari.. (also one page seems to cause problems under firefox but it gives me the option to stop the script)

    Please Update!

I have recently upgraded to Snow Leopard and experienced constant apps freezing.
ALTCMDESC is not working while in "FREEZE MODE". After 2-5 minutes apps unfreeze.
This problem is repeating more than 10 times/day

    Any solutions?

    Thanks

I finally resolved the problem today.

What I did was open the following folder:

    Macintosh HD/Library/Internet Plug-Ins

Next, I created the same folder on my desktop.

Next, I moved every plug-in to the temporary desktop folder

I opened Safari, browsed to YouTube.com, navigated throughout the site, attempted to watch a video, closed Safari

I then moved one plug-in to the folder and repeated the Safari test.

After each test, I moved that plug-in back to the temporary folder until I had gone through every plug-in, one at a time.

Once finished, I moved all of the plug-ins back where they belong and Safari works normal again.

Guys, finally i can confirm that Stealth mode switching off in firewall settings worked well for me and no more freezing in Safari as well as Mail and iTunes.
Is anyone tried this option? Would be interesting to hear some notes on this.

I disabled stealth mode in firewall and I am still seeing the "freezing" of Safari. The occurrence rate is lower but it still happens. Geesh, I can't believe I bought into the $#%^ that I would not be having these types of issues with a Mac.

"I'm prompted to stop you there, sorry. "

Perhaps you can use your authority as a Developer and give us your detailed steps to get SL running with no problems.

That will help all those considering downgrading.

I am a long time user myself and I have always reformatted and installed fresh. Its tiresome but Its the most stable to my experience.

Due to time constraints, I skipped it this time and iTunes freezes during song playback.

I am going to reformat and install. Is that what you suggest?

I am having the same issue.

Any app, any game, anything I am doing, it will randomly freeze.

Then you wait a few seconds - minute and it unfreezes.

    This is a HUGE glictch!

As I just got a new MBP w/ the snow leopard discs (and my old MBP Leopard discs wont work on this machine) I cant downgrade.

Do we know if this is getting looked into?

This is continuing to be an ongoing issue...

No matter if its watching podcasts in itunes, playing wow, sims 3, or writing text.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks

I’m having the same sort of issues. I installed SL on top of 10.5.8 and as others I have been getting all the freezes and beach balls. What’s made it really bad is I’m having rough time trying to get back to 10.5.8. First thing Apple Support suggested is a fresh install of SL, that didn’t work. Then trying to go back to 10.5.8 my system was freezing during the Time Machine process. Apple suggested I reformat the disc as apposed to just erasing it. No difference. It seems during any long process, if the screen goes to sleep, it causes the system to freeze, even if it I’m booted off the CD doing a restore from back up! So I’m now trying on a brand new drive after installing a fresh version of 10.5.8, installing all the updates before I try to restore.

Honestly I’ve been a Mac user for years and I can’t recall such a mess in recent history. I’m not a coder or developer, but I’m not a new user either. I’ve done my share of complicated procedures over the years and this is one for the books. It’s almost as if SL writes something to the firm ware or somewhere that even if you erase or reformat the drive some bit of SL remains to reek havoc on the system. Perhaps that’s crazy but it sure seems like it. It’s almost like a deliberate attack, like a virus or something. Anyway I’ve just started the restore process for the third time, it only has two hours remaining. After reading the other posts I’ve turned off the screen saver. So fare the screen hasn’t gone to sleep so perhaps the preferences I reset are holding. I hope it works, if it hangs again I’ll forget TM and do it manually. Reinstall each app and copy over each and very file ☹

All I can say is thank goodness for my Mac Book. I also have to say, I really appreciate this forum. You’d never know so many are having the same or similar issues when speaking to support. At least knowing its an SL issue eliminates wondering if its hardware which is what I was starting to think.

I’m sure eventually Mac will fix this. In the past I always waited before upgrading. I will wait longer before upgrading next time.

I purchased a new MacBook Pro 13" with Snow Leopard preinstalled. This system freezes constantly. I would say that 90% of the time that it freezes is while I'm using Safari. Is there anything to do to fix this. The whole reason that I went with Mac was to avoid the constant freezing and crashing of windows.
