I was wondering if there is a spell check for at least the iPhone 3GS native apps?
I know that some suggestions will be made but I'm talking about a real spell check.

If there isn't is there an app that will integrate and accomplish this?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.8), iPod Classic 160Gig (Black), MacBookPro, iPhone 3GS 32Gig (Black)

You only get suggested spellings. It's up to you whether you accept or reject them.

I find all that the iPhone does is auto-complete simple words to speed time up so i can type id instead of I'd.

However, I can NOT spell. So I am looking something that can spell check what I am typing with in the application I am using SMS (MMS when at&t turn it on), mail, notes, etc. I'm ok with a manually running it.

I'm thinking something like FireFox/ThunderBird or Open Office in terms of spell check. Or how BlackBerry does spell check.

My iPhone auto-corrects or suggests completion of big words.

Go to your iPhone Settings-->General-->Keyboard and make sure Auto-Correction is turned on.

I completely agree - there is no Spell Checker on the iPhone and I would consider this it's greatest fault. I have Settings >> General >> Keyboard >> Auto-Correction enable. However when I purposely misspell words - the iPhone does not make any suggested corrects.

The only time my iPhone makes any suggestions is when I'm mid-word, and am spelling the word correctly. That is not a spell-checker or even Auto-Correct - that auto-complete. The sad thing is, Bash has a more powerful auto-complete function than an iPhone.

All the spelling apps on the App Store are completely Independent of build in email client and Safari. If you want to spell-check an email before you send it, you must copy and paste it. Very bush-league if you ask me.

I not only challenge, I beg someone to point me in a direction that addresses this. I have very large fingers and constantly misspell words on the iPhone. If this is not addressed I'll be forced to move back to the BlackBerry world.

Is there anyone who can tell us if a SPELL CHECK feature (similar to what Blackberry has) is in the works or even being considered? It's a deal-breaker for my blackberry using husband and I want him to have his own iPhone so he stops taking mine to watch movies at the gym!
