This menu comes up for each text chat with a person whom I have multiple screennames for. It's nice to use, but is there a way to hide it when I don't want it around?

In iChat 4 I separated out different Screen names for certain Buddies that I had two or more Screen names for so they did not use one address Card.

I have not tested this yet.

Well I think it's a bug of iChat 5 since toggle Menu/View/Always Show Recipient Bar doesn't work.

    Hi,

I had not realized that the menu you spoke of appeared at the top of a new chat window.

As the last poster reports it does seem to be linked with the Show Recipients Bar which now appears to be Always On (you can only access this menu item when a text chat window is open).

yeah it's glitching out for me too. super annoying. i also can't stand that they moved the "go offline" option to where the "available" option was, i keep logging myself off every time i try to go available. haha

I also want to know how to hide the to/from menu. It takes up a lot of space in chat windows.

The "Always show recipient bar" is unchecked. So obviously there is currently no way to hide it in the ichat menus/preferences. Or, there is a bug. Anyone know anything else?

    Hi,

Can you clarify that the TO:/From: menu is on show all the time ?

For me it is not. It is a Drop Down that shows when I click on the Buddies Screen Name in that Show Recipient Bar.

I can not say it takes up a lot of room as it is only as deep as one Buddy line in the Buddy List.

The to/from is just a drop down menu. However, the recipient bar itself takes up enough space where it annoys me. (I generally keep my chat windows small, so this bar is mayber 20% of my whole window height) I never used to turn it on in Leopard, so being forced to have it up in snow leopard is rather frustrating.

Add me to the list. Won't go away, sometimes it's there sometimes it's not, and completely independent of whether or not the "Always Show Recipient Bar" option is checked in the View menu.

Very annoying. I, too, keep my chat windows to a minimum, so yeah, it's taking up a lot of real estate.

    Hi all,

    New info.

This works if you only have one AIM or Jabber Buddy List Open. (Bonjour can be open as well as one of the other two)

The Recipients Bar only shows the Current Screen Name as "From:" and tends to show a reduced "To:" List, normally as you only have one name for a Buddy in one list.

It is not a Fix but does point to the new To:/From: option being cross Buddy List and not following the Show Recipients Bar option at that point.

People should use this page - http://www.apple.com/feedback/ichat.html - to state a preference on how they expect/want it to work.
You will need to state you are using iChat 5 as it has yet to appear in the Drop down.

Currently there is no way to hide it when you have more than one Buddy List (excluding Bonjour) open.
