Fibre channel card failed to detect on Xserve after power failure. please help

Xserver : 10.3.8
Xserver Raid : with 4 Hard Disks @ upper slot

Raid Admin Status: All are green except Fibre Channel. = Link Down; Arbitrated loop;speed: 2 GB ;Har Loop Id: Disbled: LUn mask: Disabled

Fibre channel utility status : NO Fibre channel card found

Fibre channel card LED Status for Server1 : No lights

Fibre channel card LED Status for Server1 : Yellow color; blinks while Fire channel cable is connected

This problem shown after a power failure

Solutions I tried(All are ) :

1. Unplug and reseat Fibre channel card;
2. Set fibre setting manually.
3. Use new Fibre channel cable
4. Unplug FC card, restart, shutdown and then reconnect and start system

Still I cant connect with the card.

Please help.
With Thanks

    Have you tried a new card?

    My apologies I missed the two server part in your firs post.

    Are there any other servers that can access the RAID? Does the RAID appear to be powered up and functioning properly?

    Hi Nouf,

    Just to make things a bit more clearer. You mentioned you have two XServe. Both have Fibre Channel card and you tried connecting XServe RAID to both XServe. Both failed...

    Next,

    LED Status of cards at both server
    Fibre channel card LED Status for Server1 : No lights
    Fibre channel card LED Status for Server2 : Yellow color; blinks while Fire channel cable is connected

    Do you mean you tried to connect XServer RAID to SERVER 1, with the FC Card being installed back on the same port? If yes, maybe you should try taking it out....Power it on without the FC card installed. Make sure it boots into the OS, and power it down. Perform a P-RAM reset on the XServe. Then installed the card after a complete shutdown, re-installed the card. And power up the machine to see what happens?

    Do update me on further findings.....

    Regards

    Since the FC card is a PCI-Express.....did you try to install the FC card to another PCI-Express slot in the XServe?

    And very importantly, as I mentioned in my previous post :

    Power it on without the FC card installed. Make sure it boots into the OS, and power it down. Perform a P-RAM reset on the XServe. Then installed the card after a complete shutdown, re-installed the card. And power up the machine to see what happens?

    1. Have you performed a P-RAM reset after you removed the FC card from the XServe 1?

    And last but not least, did you try interchanging both FC cards between the two XServe? Maybe you should try doing that....you never know

    Let's keep our fingers crossed, and hope the FC card is not fried....

    Regards

    Hi Nouf,

    I am just wondering if you happened to have another unused FC cable with you?
    Maybe you want to try to change the FC Cable?

    Warmest Regards
    Shean
