Q: PB 540C to Macbook

Hello,

Can these two talk to each other?

I've got an ethernet cable going between the two and nothing's working.

Any ideas on settings for TCP/IP etc? The PB has 7.5 on it. The MacBook has 10.5.8.

Thanks for your help

You cannot use file sharing via AppleTalk between these two systems. It should be possible to use TCP/IP, providing that the connection has been initiated from the Chooser on the PowerBook 540c. Begin by upgrading the PB 540c to System 7.5.3 (e.g., the full US version here), and then set its Network Software Selector to Open Transport networking. This program could possibly be of interest, too.

Another possibility could be to set up an FTP server on each machine (perhaps the now free NetPresenz for the PB 540c) and connect from FTP clients (or web browsers).
