When importing (Control-8) a DV-Tape (HDV), I see the import window as long as I press the switch "Direct".
Not quite sure what you mean by this. On a mindlessly pedantic note, for which I apologise in advance; it's command-8 to open the Log and Capture window, not control-8. Now I've gotten that off my chest, what is this 'switch Direct' you mention?Mac OS X (10.5.6)
Currently Being ModeratedOct 30, 2009 10:51 AM (in response to James M.)Sorry, of cause I meant "Command-8" to open the recording window. Down on the right side of this window you can press "Direct" to record a complete tape in one Go. But after pressing this button, FCP crashes. I can use the tape remote commands before pressing "direct". My camera is a Canon HV30, I work with HDV and firewire remote. After the crash I read that it might have something to do with a program called "nsTODimporter". But I can´t find this program anywhere.
I now will format C: and rebuild the iMac with Snow Leopard from scratch. There is no time left for more experiments, and I´m really not amused that a program that costs 1000 Euro is not able to capture HDV-tapes.iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

nsTODimporter is a QuickTime component. It is located at Hard Drive/Library/QuickTime and is installed by cameras that record in the .tod format which is a variation of MPEG 2 developed by JVC.
Before you resort to a clean install, remove that component. You will need an Adminstrator password to fully remove it.
I now will format C
That's windows terminology. Mac hard drives have names.Mac Pro 8 Core/Mini/3ACDs, Mac OS X (10.5.8), FCP forum elitist (PAL B/G)
