    Any verdict on 10.6.2 yet?

I have a client asking me if it's ok to upgrade his Logic system.

I played with it with 9.0.2 last night on my test drive and didn't notice anything different with Logic - just some Mail fixes and the big fix for guest account data getting deleted. But as the release notes don't mention anything audio-related I wasn't expecting much.

Haven't tested it in depth yet, but logic is running fine so far and one OS bug that has been bothering me seems fixed.

Anyone have any problems with the machine's internal audio not working or only partially working after this OS upgrade? No audio with any systems sounds, DVD, or iTunes using system playback?

This is a common issue, but an easy fix. Just go into Sound settings in System Prefs and change the default sound device. I'm not sure how apple managed to get that wrong.

    Thanks!

In this case, it wasn't working even though built-in-audio was listed as the default sound device. Once the device was re-selected it came alive.

Trying to help someone over the phone is not easy when I'm not running the same OS. hmmmm...

If you use MOTU audio hardware with your Mac, 10.6.2 does not work with the current MOTU drivers. I use a MOTU interface with Logic Pro, but I'm stuck until MOTU comes out with an update.

Using a couple of MOTU 2408 mk3s here with no problem.

It seems the problem had to do with not having Rosetta installed. It crashed every time until I installed Rosetta, after that it worked just fine.

Yes, Pancenter, I'm having a problem with internal audio not playing anything from Logic 8 through the headphone jack. Sound prefs have no bearing on this or my external speakers... they continue to sound no matter what the sound prefs setting is.

I have no data base to compare this to, I migrated to a new Xeon quad core 2.66 yesterday and upgraded the OS today to 10.6.2, and Logic (or the new machine, or both) hasn't fired my headphones yet.

Otherwise, signal comes out of the headphone jack with every other audio I can find, just not Logic Pro 8. I'm trolling for suggestions here; it's not like I'm doing anything esoteric. It's just core audio.

Do I need to dump Logic and reinstall?

Ignore what I just wrote, please. It was just a question of user failure. I will now slink away, making a mental note to always look for the 'apply' button after I make a settings change.
