Nov 18, 2009 3:26 AM in response to oxfordlitelyby EdHart,I'm afraid is not caused by the text-reading cd players, I suspect the CD burner, when you use cd text and ISRC code. Even without using WaveBurner I get a loud pop at the end of a (1 song) burn session.

Nov 29, 2009 8:26 PM in response to EdHartby bradsarno,I just found this possible solution on another forum:
"And, I totally found the problem, too... It's the SCMS settings in the "PQ Codes" section when you look at the data for each CD track. The settings in the file I downloaded were set to "protected original". I changed them all to "free", burned it again, and the pops were gone...
Give it a whirl! Cool" -

Jan 5, 2010 6:13 PM in response to bradsarnoby rpmartino,I was having this problem too, and this tutorial pointed me in the right direction:
http://www.producercafe.com/burn-a-dj-mix-to-cd-properly-with-waveburner/
It turns out I could get the pops to go away if I switched the Time Format to CDDA Frames (the little menu next to the horizontal zoom slider) and made sure my track markers lined up exactly on a CDDA frame boundary.

Jan 7, 2010 1:30 AM in response to rpmartinoby Sunlight,I have tried all the suggestions in this post (and others) and absolutely none of them work. After trying different settings I have wasted 8 high quality CD-Rs trying to burn an album where most of the tracks crossfade into each other. Most of the crossfade points still have clicks.
I am a professional musician and rely on software like Waveburner for my business .Up until v1.6.1 WB has always behaved perfectly. This current version is totally unusable so I'm really stuck for what to do.
It is not my Cd burners problem (I use the internal Mac one and also the faster LaCie drive). I switched off CD Text...no good , lined up the index points ...no good etc etc.
Is there anyway to get the previous version of WB loaded back onto my Mac?....I had no problems at all with this older version.
Bring back v 1.6....please!! -
Jan 28, 2010 4:18 PM in response to oxfordlitelyby Hans Tobeason,I have encountered the same issue (WaveBurner 1.6.1, OS X 10.5.8). I solved it by doing three things:
Unchecking "Write CD TEST Data" and "Write Index Points" in Preferences->Burn.
Setting all my CD Tracks to SCMS "Free" in Inspector->General->PQ Codes.
Setting both the main display and the CD Tracks display to Time Format->Min:Sec:Frm (CDDA Frames) and making sure that all my track markers were on a frame boundary (they already were).
I have no idea which of the above fixed the click/pop problem, and I don't care. It's gone. -
Jan 31, 2010 4:33 AM in response to Hans Tobeasonby Sunlight,Hi Hans
I just tried all this and followed the instructions very carefully but I still get the loud clicks on some(not all) of the track markers.
To be honest, I have now given up on WB, it clearly isn't going to work properly. I have instead been using a friends PC to burn CD masters on which is rather embarrassing but I have no choice. At least it works properly.

Feb 18, 2010 10:01 AM in response to oxfordlitelyby Nick Rawson,I had this same problem, and after trying all the suggestions on this topic, I think I may have found out what is causing the clicks.
One post suggested that you set your Time format to CDDA frames, and this is where the solution starts.
The CDDA frame rate is 75 fps, the Redbook standard. Even though your audio edits don't have to fall exactly on a frame, the (purple) Track Markers DO have to fall on a frame.
In my case, some of the music transitions had audio edits that fell right on a frame - no click.
Other transitions had audio edits that fell in between a frame, causing the Track Marker to be in between a frame as well. Any 'offset' Track Markers resulted in clicks!
When I moved all the offset Track Markers to the nearest frame and burned the CDr, the clicks were gone!
I think shifting a Track Marker a few milliseconds earlier or later is a fair compromise.
This might be in the manual...but if it isn't, now you know! -
Feb 26, 2010 12:29 AM in response to rpmartinoby rrlavigne,ROB? From Stickist.com? This is 88persuader (Ray) ... Small world.
BTW thanks for the link, it was interesting reading! -
Apr 23, 2010 11:43 AM in response to rrlavigneby Fiddling Paul,Maybe I'm just stupid but how do you know, or make sure, that the start id is on the start of a frame? -
May 17, 2010 1:21 PM in response to oxfordlitelyby rtcstudio,This problem is still not solved.
I upgraded from Logic 8 to 9, and did all the updates. Snow Leopard 10.6.3.
Before the upgrade, You did not have to worry at all about frames, or what was checked in preferences, it just worked.
It's broken now, none of the above helps to solve this problem (nor should any of that be needed if it was working like before). -
May 17, 2010 1:57 PM in response to rtcstudioby rtcstudio,The solution is to use Waveburner 1.5.2 on Mac OS 10.5.8 (Leopard).
Something in the new Waveburner (with Logic 9.1.1), or in the new Snow Leopard OS (10.6.3), BROKE Waveburner's ability to make gapless CD's.
Thank goodness when I upgraded I used a new hard drive. When I went back to my 10.5.8 drive and booted from there, and used WB 1.5.2, everything worked like it should. Completely seamless CD burning. -
Jun 16, 2010 1:10 PM in response to oxfordlitelyby matteo_mp,I can confirm, no tips on WB 1.6.1 can solve the clicks problem. I just used WB 1.5.2, on SNOW LEOPARD 1.6.3, everything was ok. -
Jul 12, 2010 3:49 PM in response to matteo_mpby Nick Rawson,For me, it still works, I've done several 'seamless' masters with no clicks, just by making sure the track markers land exactly on a frame.
I'm not saying it works for everyone, but it works for me.
The problem I'm having now is a click at the end of a single song burn.
I tried several work arounds, suggested here on the forum, but nothing works.
It's kinda scary that we seem to be have different issues that work for some users and not others. I've been mastering for about 18th years now, and I haven't had this much trouble with other brands of CD burning software.
I'd hate to move to another software solution, but I just might have to.
ugh!
