I often get "Safari can’t open the page “” because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait for a few minutes, and then try again." when I try to use safari (v.4.0.4), regardless of the site. I have an old motorola wireless router (about 5-6 years old). Could this be the problem? This problem does not occur at work wher i have a new Airport router.

Try the Reset Safari… menu command and uncheck everything except the first five checkboxes, then press Reset. Then check to see if the problem continues; you may also want to quit and restart Safari to be sure you're starting with a blank slate.

If the problem does continue, create a new User account on your Mac and test Safari for the problem there; if it continues there, it's a systemwide issue, otherwise it's something specific to your regular user account.

In addition to Golden's great advice,
you might want to shut down you Mac, unplug your Mac, Router and Modem.
Leave everything down for 5 mins.
Reconnect everything, restart Modem/Router. When the lights
settle down, fire up your Mac. Any better?
